Excel works. Until it stops working.

Nobody uses a spreadsheet out of laziness: they use it because it is flexible, it is on every computer and it works. The problem is not Excel. It is the day your operation outgrows it. Here is how to tell whether you are there yet.

What it does well

Let’s start with the obvious: Excel is a great tool

And if it is what you have and it works for you, this page will not try to convince you otherwise.

  • It is flexible: each column is whatever you want it to be.
  • Everyone knows how to use it and nobody needs convincing.
  • It is already on every computer in the company.
  • For a small team with little equipment to maintain, a well-built spreadsheet is the right answer.
  • We have seen spreadsheets better thought out than some software.

Where it ends

Five signs your Excel has become too small

Excel does not lose data: it loses track. And it does not grow with the team: it works with three people and breaks with twelve.

  1. There is more than one version

Someone has a copy on their desktop and someone else edited the one on the server. You no longer know which one is right.

  2. Only one person understands it

If that person goes on vacation, planning stops. If they leave the company, they take the system with them.

  3. The data arrives late

Service reports get typed in by hand on Friday. What you see in the spreadsheet is a snapshot from a week ago.

  4. You cannot prove anything

The customer asks whether the inspection was done. The spreadsheet says yes, but there is no photo, no signature, no time and no name.

  5. You do not know what it costs you

You have the hours in one place and the invoicing in another. Profitability per customer is still a hunch.

If you recognize three or more, Excel has not broken. Your operation has grown.

Point by point

Excel and attendo, point by point

What each one includes, according to its public documentation as of September 2026. No red crosses: a dash means it does not include it or it is not its focus.

When to choose each one

The part other comparisons skip

We start with when Excel is the better choice. If that sounds like you, you can stop reading here.

When you should not switch

  • You are fewer than five people and do not expect to grow.
  • You manage fewer than a hundred pieces of equipment, all in the same place.
  • You have no response-time commitments with customers.
  • Nobody asks you for proof of the work done.
  • Your spreadsheet is maintained by someone who is going to stay.

If that is you, stay as you are. When any of these five things changes, we will be here.

When it is worth it

  • When you have technicians in the field and service reports arrive late.
  • When a customer asks you to prove the inspection was done.
  • When preventive maintenance slips every month.
  • When you do not know which customer is profitable.
  • When someone spends hours every month building reports by hand.

How to migrate

Your Excel is the starting point, not the enemy

What you already have is valuable. It comes over, gets cleaned up and is put to work.

  1. Step 1

You send us your spreadsheet as it is

Tidy or not: we also import chaotic spreadsheets.

  2. Step 2

    We import what is there

Assets, customers, contracts and catalogs, with a report of the rows that fail. Along the way, duplicates and decommissioned equipment still on the list come to light.

  3. Step 3

    We set up your inspections

Your routines and checklists, based on what you already have.

  4. Step 4

You start with a small team

A couple of weeks of testing before rolling it out to everyone.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I import my current Excel?

Yes, and it is the usual starting point. Customers, contacts, contracts, assets and products from Excel or CSV, with a report of the rows that fail.

Do I have to give up Excel completely?

No. attendo lists and reports can be exported to Excel whenever you want, for any analysis you prefer to do there.

What if I want to leave one day?

Your data is yours: the export is complete and you take it with you.

Will my technicians know how to use it?

The field app works by scanning the equipment’s QR code, ticking and signing: fewer steps than the paper service report. It runs on iOS and Android, also offline.

Can I start with just one part?

Yes. You start with the area that hurts most, such as maintenance or tickets, and turn on more modules when you need them.

Request a demo

Compare it with your own operation

Tell us how you work with Excel today and we will show you attendo with your ticket types, your customers and your contracts. If you are better off staying where you are, we will tell you.

  • With your operation, not a generic demo
  • A real person from our team replies
  • No cold calls afterwards

Would you rather talk first?

Which area do you want to see in the demo?

With your work email we prepare the demo around your case.

In one or two sentences.

If you chose Maintenance (CMMS)

If you chose Field work (Field Service)

If you chose Facility Management

If you chose any other area

Only if you would rather we call you.
